Director of Marketing and Communications

The College of St. Catherine, the nation’s largest private Catholic women’s college is now accepting applications for a full-time Director of Marketing and Communications.

Responsibilities: As a member of the College’s proactive External Relations team, the Director of Marketing and Communications manages the College’s marketing and communications function for both internal and external constituencies. This position develops and monitors all external College messages for consistency, accuracy, dynamism and advocacy of the College’s vision, strategic priorities and competitive advantages. This position demands marketing and branding expertise, anticipation, broad scope, marketing awareness, public relations sensitivity, media sense and visionary possibilities. The incumbent must demonstrate excellent written and oral communications skills consistent with a nationally leading academic institution that educates women to lead and influence. The director must articulate messages rooted in the College’s commitment to its Catholic traditions. The incumbent must also manage those charged with the various aspects of the College’s marketing and communications activities, encouraging them to work aggressively and proactively as they collaborate to assure that the College claims its rightful place in a very competitive market place. This position will help the College achieve national visibility. The director will manage a team of marketing/communications professionals.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field, and five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in managing a comprehensive marketing and communications operation. Advanced degree preferred. Extensive experience developing and leading a strategic media relations program, building and implementing a marketing plan, creating a strong brand, demonstrated success in building and managing a team of marketing and public relations professionals, demonstrated experience collaborating and developing effective relationships with staff members, peers, senior administrators, trustees and external constituencies. Prefer past experience in higher education; a broad network of contacts in the Twin Cities.
