Vice President, Medical Devices, Weber Shandwick

Weber Shandwick's Minneapolis office is searching for a Vice President for the Medical Devices Practice. The Vice President-Medical Devices is responsible for managing the client relationship and account team. S/he plays a central role in business development and guides the development of creative and successful public relations strategies and programs. The Vice President is also responsible for developing and soliciting new business, including creating presentations and budgetary estimates.

That role necessitates an ability to recommend programs and activities that meet with clients' business and communications objectives, as well as an ability to sell in programs and organically grow the business. The Vice President is ultimately accountable for delivering contracted work on time and within budget, ensuring production of high-quality work product that meets outlined program benchmarks and goals and overseeing the staffing and fiscal management of assigned accounts.

  • Earn the confidence of senior client contacts and other executives within a client's organization
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of a client's business, industry and relevant media
  • Develop long-term plans and programs, including strategy and recommendations; partner with senior management as appropriate to develop strategic and creative approach
  • Leads the creative development process for client programs by leading agency brainstorms, marshalling appropriate resources and writing program recommendations in a creative, compelling way
  • Grow existing accounts through a variety of strategies, including selling additional projects, penetrating new brands, or promoting additional agency network services and divisions
  • Actively build client relationships by heading and initiating review meetings, entertainment opportunities, etc.
  • Effectively lead the project management function, ensuring workflow completion against project timeline
  • Address any issues, troubleshoot problems and provide strategic counsel to team
  • Understand medical device industry and societal issues that directly and indirectly affect the client
  • Counsel team members relative to media pitching, make pitch recommendations and counsel team regarding specific assignments or beats
  • Maintain final review of all letters, memos, meeting reports and client materials, providing materials to senior management for review as necessary
  • Maintain solid understanding of 'big picture' view of client programs and relationship: maintain awareness of future client events and activities and how they impact agency
  • Qualifications
  • 9+ years related professional experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
