The University of St. Thomas is accepting applications for the position of the Associate Director of the News Service.
The individual will gather and write St. Thomas news that is distributed off campus (primarily through news releases) and on campus (primarily through Bulletin Today stories). The individual assists the director as needed, performing duties in his absence; serves as co-editor of Bulletin Today; and handles a variety of other writing projects as assigned, including stories for St. Thomas magazine and the Arches neighborhood newsletter.
Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field, with four years of experience in communication, public relations or news service work. Higher education experience is preferred.
We are looking for candidates with superior writing, editing and speaking skills; proficiency with Associated Press style and with office software for Web design, HTML, word processing and graphic design; and a clear understanding of print and broadcast news operations.
