Greater Twin Cities United Way - Events Coordinator

Position Description

Description of Duties

  • Plans and executes assigned organizational events, including logistics, sponsorships, event budgets and analytics/tracking of event ROI
  • Perform research and sourcing of vendors, materials, products and services
  • Serve as project manager for United Way assigned events
  • Perform database entry and archival documentation
  • Manage budgets for assigned events
  • Recruit and manage volunteers and interns when applicable per event
  • Manage internal meetings and ongoing communication with events that have been assigned
  • Provide event-related administrative support, including direct support for Director of Marketing as needed


  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent years of applicable experience) with 2-3 years event planning experience and/or marketing and promotions experience
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously with short deadlines in a fast-paced environment and across department/division lines
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment, excellent problem solver, strong initiative, excellent negotiator and strong attention to detail required
  • Sourcing/research, mail-merge, documentation and database entry experience (CRM experience a plus)
  • Creative thinker with strong leadership, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Experience securing in-kind gifts or donations of products and/or services genuine concern for others
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills
  • Volunteer management experience a plus
  • Experience with web management and e-mail/newsletter content programs a plus
  • Must have a flexible schedule and transportation for evening and weekend events
