Haberman - New Business Development Manager

About Us: Haberman is a media + marketing firm whose mission is to tell the stories of pioneering organizations and individuals who make the world a better place. We seek a New Business Development Manager to identify, pursue and develop new client relationships, including matching new clients with the passions of our tribe. This position works directly with the New Business Director, agency leadership and some of the strongest current and emerging brands/organizations in the country.

  • Identify prospective clients that fit with our agency mission.
  • Develop and manage an ongoing lead pipeline.
  • Participate in new client meetings to build relationships and gather appropriate background required to write compelling proposals.
  • Excellent rapport-building skills and ability to quickly boil down a prospective client’s needs into proposal format.
  • Ability to skillfully persuade and speak openly about budgets and ROI.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings.
Proposal and presentation development:
  • Research, write and edit proposals for prospective clients, effectively converting prospects into new clients and growing relationships with existing clients.
  • Research, write and develop PowerPoint presentations for meetings with prospects or for agency competitive presentations.
  • Effectively interact with other agency departments to develop appropriate hours and budget estimates, and to manage work volume.
  • Ability to write and outline strategic plan elements for PR, media relations, interactive, brand development and marketing programs.
New business systems management:
  • Manage multiple spreadsheets, databases and dashboards to track new business metrics.
  • Create systems to seamlessly transition prospective clients to internal account teams.
  • Participate in Haberman marketing events and in creation of marketing materials.
  • Healthy sense of humor and innate creativity.
  • Understand issues and/or causes relevant to our clients and create messaging that persuasively expresses client positions.
  • Embody the Haberman agency culture of positivity, openness and making a difference in the world.
  • Self-starter with commitment to take on new challenges and grow professionally.
  • Ability to multi-task and quickly and appropriately set priorities.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in business, marketing or communications
  • 5 years of integrated marketing communications and/or consumer brand experience with direct new business experience; some agency experience desired; cause marketing background a plus.
  • Experience that demonstrates outstanding time management skills and attention to detail. Type A personality encouraged.
  • Solid writing and editing skills with ability to grasp and translate complex subject matter and turn out final copy that is error-free.
  • Intellectual curiosity; up-to-date knowledge of current events and industry trends.

Software Expectations:
  • Strong MS Office Suite skills, including excellent Word and PowerPoint expertise and at least moderate Excel skills.
  • Experience with, or ability to quickly learn, Apple’s Pages program.
  • Experience utilizing the web to research prospective clients.
  • Mac experience preferred.
