Responsibilities: Provide leadership and direction for media relations and publications development. Work extensively with the local, regional and national media, cultivate relationships with members of the media and serve as a university spokesperson as needed; serve as managing editor for the institutional magazine; supervise graphic designers and undergraduate and graduate students; oversee publications; coordinates photography. Works with university entities and individuals on public relations and partners in the development of World Wide Web and social media presence.
Qualifications and Experience:Required: • Bachelor’s degree in mass communications, journalism or a related field. • Substantial management experience required in working in public relations, media relations and/or publications, preferably in higher education. • Strong writing and editing skills, attention to detail, ability to use computer, content management system and social media tools, organizational abilities required, as well as ability to apply convergence journalism techniques. • Evidence of ability to work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Media relations and/or publications experience in higher education;
- Extensive knowledge of technology and the applied ways in which the World Wide Web, social media and print and electronic publications relate.
