Medtronic - Library Science Intern Job

Position Description

Medtronic’s corporate library, The Knowledge Center, located at our world headquarters in Fridley Minnesota, is looking for a student enrolled in the MLIS program to begin immediately as a Technical Information Specialist intern. The internship is a temporary, full time (40 hrs/wk), competitively paid, position requiring availability during the M-F workday, starting immediately thru November 2012. This position will work autonomously with little to no work direction. This is a great opportunity to experience life in a special library.

Position Responsibilities

- Technical Services
- Collection management
- Link resolver, document delivery vendor, and website maintenance
- Client requests triage and reference response
- Internal Communications
- Publishing articles
- Creating and sending company-wide communications
- Marketing/promotions work
- Miscellaneous Duties and Projects
- Creating legal letters for outside Medtronic presenters
- SharePoint projects
- Other library work as needed

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree; Enrolled in Masters of Library Science (MLIS) degree
- 1 year of experience in a library/information center
- Experience in Word, Excel

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

- Computer skills in Photoshop
- Experience managing library systems and content
- Proven accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work cooperatively as a team
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
