Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities (BBBS)
is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Communications & Public
Relations Intern. This internship
provides a valuable opportunity to gain experience with communications and
public relations including media relations, audience engagement, and strategic
planning. The intern will receive supervision
and coaching from experienced communications professionals.
Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
The Communications and Public Relations Intern will:

Assist in writing pitch letters to press members
and produce materials needed for presentations and events
·
Write copy for brochures, flyers, web sites and
emails
·
Manage media list and clip reports
·
Write promotional copy for special events,
volunteer recruitment and match activities
·
Write match profiles and work with current
volunteers to prepare testimonials
·
Provide administrative support for the
communications and public relations department
Qualifications:
·
Proficiency with Microsoft Office including
Word, Excel and PowerPoint
·
Ability to write and edit agency-related copy
·
Detail-oriented work style
·
Strong verbal and written communication skills
·
Familiarity with Associated Press Style Manual is a plus
·
Familiarity with online content management, and
email marketing software is a plus
·
Must be available for at least 10 hours per week
for a minimum of three months
The intern will gain direct experience with nonprofit
communications and public relations.
