Twin Cities In Motion is currently seeking a Communications Specialist.

Twin Cities In Motion (TCM) is searching for a full-time Communications Specialist responsible for daily communications, website development, and social media.  TCM is the non-profit organization responsible for organizing and hosting the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon – a top ten US marathon and “The Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America”® – and a year-long calendar of running events.  TCM, a respected industry leader for the past 30 years, strives to give the best experience possible to runners, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, spectators, and the community. 

This position reports to the Director of Marketing & Media and is responsible for the following:
  • Write and distribute all written collateral, including press releases, news articles, advertising, and brochures
  • Work with key media contacts, including responding to inquiries and requests from media
  • Oversee and manage the volunteer-based Communications & PR Committee (CPR), working directly with volunteers as part of your core team; Manage CPR committee budget
  • Administer website, including content management and web analytics
  • Implement the social media strategy, including Facebook page(s), twitter, blog, etc.
  • Manage all E-communications, including writing, distribution, and database/list management
  • Work closely with sales team to create sales tools for sponsorship marketing, including power point decks, case studies, and ad campaigns focused on sponsorship
  • Coordinate special projects and assist in office tasks as directed
  • Serve as a key member of the event execution team
  • Minimum 2-4 years of internal and external communication and writing experience
  • Well-versed in multiple communications channels (print, online, digital, media)
  • 1+ years social media experience
  • Minimum 1-3 years of web management experience, including working knowledge of HTML and content management systems
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign preferred
  • Effective written and editorial skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as  perform effectively within a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and planning skills
  • Effective leader, able to build consensus among all constituencies
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks, handle fast paced, deadline driven environment, with attention to detail
  • Team player, able to interact positively with diverse volunteer members and employees
  • Four-year degree required in Communications, Journalism or related
  • A working knowledge of the running industry preferred
  • Experience with non-profits and volunteerism a plus
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
