XcelEnergy - Communication Consultant

Description

We have an opportunity available for a Communication Consultant in Minneapolis, Minn. In this role, you will be accountable for excellent communications project management, writing, and client service. You will contribute to corporate goals and targets through execution of communications strategies. You will also coordinate work with other Communications staff to ensure alignment with overall strategy for the company and/or business units, jurisdictions and issues.

Essential Responsibilities

• Plans, researches, writes, edits and coordinates development of electronic and web-based communications
• Documents and improves processes to produce quality, on-time results.
• Serves on various cross-functional teams to provide communications perspectives and helps develop and implement plans and tactics to achieve team's mission. Provides communications counsel to clients.
• Works closely with vendor-partners, including IT to ensure production meets quality and timing requirements.
• Understands and supports Xcel Energy’s brand; understands and demonstrates behaviors in accordance with the corporate values.

Qualifications

Required
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or Communications
• 8 years experience in working with designers, web technology, and dealing directly with clients.
• Proven ability to write clearly, concisely, quickly and accurately for both web and print communications incorporating key messages and calls to action and using appropriate language and tone for the target audience; knowledge of AP Style and web writing style.
• Able to progress on a variety of projects during the course of the workday and accustomed to working at a fast pace.
• Experience and success in communications for variety of stakeholders
• Experience with MS Office suite and web content management
• Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for crisis communications.
