Lifetime - Public Relations Specialist


The Public Relations Specialist will oversee the planning, design, implementation and measurement of public/media relations initiatives that supports Life Time Fitness Athletic Events. Establish brand familiarity and motivate Life Time Fitness Events, programs, services and product selection among targeted audiences. Through effective strategy definition, planning and tactical execution, ensure that public/media relations initiatives yield measurable results and maximum return on investment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of public/media relations strategies, policies, procedures and tactics for all Life Time Fitness events
- Prepare, gain approval for and execute annual public/media relations plan based upon business unit objectives, strategies and business goals
- Substantially increase the impact and leverage of public/media relations within the Life Time Fitness events marketing mix
- Establish and maintain media relations contact database
- Manage the Life Time Fitness events online newsroom
- Prepare, gain approval for and distribute news releases, fact sheets, pitches, key messages, scripts, etc. to targeted internal and external audiences
- Provide qualitative and quantitative public/media relations impact measurement in accordance with established metrics
- Establish strong relationships and collaborate with Life Time Fitness events team in the implementation of activities that further the Company's public/media relations strategies
- Manage relationships with a variety of media including business, consumer, local, and trade, and across media types including broadcast, print, online and social media
- Actively drive the company's social media strategy in the media relations realm and represent company in social media outlets
- Organize press briefings, media training, and photography
- Consistently bring innovation to the events area. Regularly introduce new ideas and opportunities for feature articles, events, pitches, interviews, presentations, process enhancements and other strategies and activities that promote Life Time Fitness events
- Ensure services are delivered within established budgets and manage the accounts payable process to ensure accurate and prompt billing and payment


- Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, marketing or other related field

- A minimum of four years of public/media relations work experience
- Outstanding oral, written and interpersonal communication skills (examples required)
- Ability to multi-task within tight deadlines
- Demonstrated success in developing relationships with media members and implementing media campaigns and securing media coverage in a variety of media outlet types
- Strong attention to detail, organized and efficient
- Proven ability to develop strong relationships and communicate with all levels of management, including team members and leaders across Life Time Fitness markets
- Ability to effectively present to management, media, the general public and/or other audiences as required
- Ability to define problems, collect data, draw valid conclusions and implement media relations tactics that address these factors
- Ability to define and deliver comprehensive qualitative and quantitative public/media relations effectiveness and measurement analyses
- Proven conflict resolution and incident management communications expertise
- Knowledge of the health, fitness and nutrition fields a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
- Windows, Microsoft Office Applications, Media database management
- Ability to travel and support night and weekend commitments as required
