University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering - PR/Marketing Specialist


The University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering is looking for a PR/Marketing Specialist in our collegwide Communications Office. This is a new position.

Duties/Responsibilities
50% - Creates, implements and analyzes strategies for communications to prospective and current students and their parents including email announcements, web updates, digital signage, social media and print materials; develops and implements use of visual resources, including photos, videos and infographics, to maximize impact of various communications; researches best practices and shares them throughout the College; works with student groups within the College to promote their activities to the wider community; aligns strategies with overall communications and strategic plans for the College and University;

15% - Develops and implements plans to promote and market the College at various events aimed at alumni, industry and other external audiences

15% - Coordinates, writes, edits and formats stories and visual content for various internal and external College audiences to be used on the College website and in other communications

10% - Reviews, advises and provides editing resources to departments and centers within the College on their promotional materials as well as electronic communications and social media; monitors marketing/branding materials to ensure consistency across the College

10% - Gathers and examines media/social media analytics and makes recommendations to the College Communications Director for future planning

5% - Carries out other public relations and marketing duties as assigned
