Merrick, Inc. - Marketing & Communications Intern

Primary Duties:
This paid internship will work 10 to 15 hours per week and last approximately 13 weeks. The Marketing/Communications Intern will be responsible for completing the following duties and projects:
  • ØSocial media coordination and analytics;
  • ØWebsite content updates;
  • ØEvent communications coordination;
  • ØWriting and content creation for internal/external audiences through multiple channels; and
  • ØPhotography.
Qualifications:
Current student or recent graduate in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications, or related discipline with some communication/marketing experience desired and personal/professional experience interacting with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred;
Excellent grasp of the English language and grammar with documentation of excellent writing and copywriting editing skills required;
Proficient in MS Office, some experience with content management software (CMS) such as Joomla (strongly preferred), Drupal, or Wordpress or a similar tool, and prefer experience with email marketing such as Constant Contact or a similar tool;
Experience with social media for organizations and nonprofits preferred with knowledge of video production and photography for use in a multi-media environment (personal social media experience is acceptable if no professional experience is available); and
Must pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

Additional Information:
This is a part-time, temporary position (mid-June to mid-September) working 10 to 15 hours per week.  The Intern will receive $10.00 per hour and is not eligible for benefits.

Northwestern College - Communications Specialist - Marketing & Communications Dept

Position Summary: Proactively craft, optimize and deliver information and compelling communications that support recruitment and revenue generation for Northwestern College (NWC) and associated divisions through the NWC website, social media, publications, print, electronic media, advertising, and internal communications. Write and produce for other media including coordinating logistics and developing themes for video projects. Participate as collaborative team member/content curator by collaborating with partner representative(s) to discuss story development and marketing/communications needs and strategies. Monitor roll-out of marketing/communications campaigns, communicate progress and recommendations, track progress, meet deadlines, and check success levels. Help maintain and optimize website content, keeping information accurate and current. Edit, write, and produce content for internal and external communication, including key writing for the Pilot magazine. Participate in the distribution of campus-wide messages. Study and absorb best practices, research and statistics that affect messaging for partner areas.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; degree in English, Communication, or Journalism preferred. Minimum of one year previous professional writing experience required; three years strongly preferred. Knowledge and demonstrated skill in creative, journalistic, and/or business writing. Ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, courteous, and tactful manner. Ability to prioritize projects and complete tasks within deadlines. Intermediate to advanced skill with Microsoft Office (esp. Word, Outlook and PowerPoint; experience in SharePoint is a plus). Excellent verbal and writing skills with exemplary knowledge of grammar, editing, and proofreading.

Ordway - Public Relations Internship



JOB PURPOSE:  This position is responsible for assisting the PR & Marketing Manager and the Marketing and Communication Department in the daily operations and activities of Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
§  Research and maintain online and print calendar listings.
§  Read and compile press clips into comprehensive reports.
§  Prepare targeted media lists and maintain an updated media contact file.
§  Prepare or assist in preparation of public relations materials, including but not limited to: press releases, media alerts, media and blogger night invitations and press kits.
§  Assist PR & Marketing Manager and Creative Department in oversight of program magazines for Ordway events.
§  Assist in research, drafting and editing of Ordway marketing materials including brochures, e-blasts and newsletters.
§  Assist in updating sections of Ordway’s website.
§  Maintain responsibility for show-related requests including car rentals and b-roll distribution.
§  Assist in coordinating media previews, visits and interviews by making various phone calls for research, follow-up or confirmation.
§  Assist in opening night press preparations.
§  Perform and assist PR & Marketing Manager in other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:  Major or Focus in public relations, journalism, marketing, or equivalent is required.
EXPERIENCE:  Previous internship experience in public relations, marketing/advertising or equivalent preferred.  Prior clerical or administrative support experience in a non-profit, education or cultural environment a plus.  Previous knowledge of AP Style preferred.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY:  Excellent writing, verbal, proof reading, editing, phone and organizational skills necessary.  Polished communicator.  Flexible team player.  Self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, excellent phone manner and communication skills, ability to prioritize and work well under pressure and to deadlines. Computer aptitude required, with Microsoft Office experience preferred.

This position will serve a variety of roles - videographer, producer, editor, graphic designer, account manager, content developer... If you're a storyteller first and foremost, we need to talk.

Position Requirements
At Axiom, you can't be typecast as one kind of performer. We need you to be highly proficient in all
areas of video production. You must be able to demonstrate proficiency in all elements of preproduction
- scripting, storyboarding, shot selection, location preparation. You need to be an exceptional shooter, creative producer, exquisite editor and strong writer. You'll need to be able to manage an on location video shoot
- set up lights, conduct interviews, capture b-roll, troubleshoot challenging technical issues and represent Axiom in a professional manner. And you'll need to be able to do this efficiently and effectively.

Our ideal team member comes from a broadcast news background with 5+ years of videography, editing and producing experience. Agency or corporate video production experience is a plus. Your skills must include a proficiency with both Apple and Adobe creative suites, with After Effects skills given precedence above all else. Social media credentials are a must, as well - demonstrated blogging and proven writing skills are required.
