Description
Provide students with an interest in Marketing and Event Planning the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in their classroom experience to a business environment. The internship is designed to give students the opportunity to experience hands-on marketing preparation and event planning.

Students will have the opportunity to:


  • Ability to network with employees of all levels
  • Ability to network with Hotel, Resort, DMC and Cruise partners at a variety of functions
  • Gain hands-on marketing and event experience
  • Receive regular feedback on job performance
  • Participate in orientation and training
  • Gain high level mentor relationships

Accountabilities
Part-time | Unpaid internship
12 weeks | 20 hours a week

Required Qualifications:
Seniors graduating between May 2014 and December 2014
Pursuing a Bachelor Degree (All majors considered)
Must be willing to commute to Downtown Minneapolis
Right to work in the United States, that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.

Desired Qualifications:
Overall GPA 3.0+ preferred
Internship must be used for College credit
Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Marketing, Mass Communications, General Business, or Hospitality preferred
Adobe Suite, PowerPoint & Keynote, Excel, Microsoft FrontPage experience preferred

The BrandLab Mission
To change the face and voice of the marketing industry by introducing, guiding and preparing students for careers in marketing.

The BrandLab Classroom Program
The BrandLab delivers a hands-on curriculum in high school classes across the Twin Cities, equipping students with the fundamentals of marketing and advertising. In collaboration with teachers, industry partners and committed volunteers, we bring industry expertise into the classroom, and move student learning out of the classroom through field trips to area agencies and corporations. For a select group of students who excel in our program, we offer summer internships and $1,000 scholarships.  Merging industry expertise to student passion and perspective, The BrandLab works to change the face and voice of marketing and advertising.

Position Description for The BrandLab Instructors
A BrandLab Instructor is responsible for the in-class implementation of The BrandLab curriculum.  Working in close partnership with Teachers, Instructors translate The BrandLab curriculum into a weekly calendar and classroom experience that accomplishes both the class’s and The BrandLab’s learning goals.

The BrandLab Instructor requests classroom volunteers, guest speakers, field trips, and other support from our Outreach Director, and acts as the point of contact once these request are filled.

Qualifications
·         Work Experience or training in Marketing and/or Advertising
·         Experience leading and facilitating a Creative Process
·         Desire to teach in an urban environment
·         Ability to adapt quickly to change
·         Experience working on a team
·         An eye for potential and opportunities to reach it
·         Confidence in collaborating with many different constituents: Cooperating Teacher, Program Director, Outreach Director, Students, Industry Volunteers
·         Previous experience working with high school students a plus
Responsibilities
·         Teach The BrandLab Curriculum
·         Establish rapport with cooperating teacher and students
·         Manage student behavior
·         Demonstrate a belief that all students’ individual talents can be developed
·         Bi-weekly check in with Program Director
·         Weekly planning meeting with Cooperating Teacher
·         Attend planning meetings with The BrandLab
·         Find opportunities for volunteers to support content in classroom
·         Communicate with Volunteer Coordinator volunteer needs in advance notice
·         Periodically communicate lesson plans to Program Director
·         Develop support materials to adapt The BrandLab curriculum to meet the needs of the specific classroom
·         Attend The BrandLab trainings
·         Support The BrandLab mission by inspiring kids from all backgrounds to reach their creative potential and pursue a career in Marketing/Advertising

Compensation
The BrandLab Instructors are part-time employees paid at $22.50 per hour with an average of 5-8 hours per week per class. Timesheets are required to submit for bi-weekly payment.  Any pre-approved BrandLab classroom expenses will be reimbursed upon a submitted expense report.  There will also be paid training sessions prior to class.

Minnesota State Fair - Social Media & Marketing Intern Posting

Job Summary: Support State Fair marketing and guest relations efforts through social media
and written communication projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with coordination, creation and production of written and visual material for the fair’s
  • social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
  • Monitor social media conversations and the fair’s online social media presence.
  • Compose and produce the Daily News, the fair’s internal fairtime newsletter.
  • Complete several marketing and group hospitality brochures.
  • Assist with answering phone calls and requests from the media as needed.
  • Assist in proofing details for a variety of marketing communications projects.
  • Work extra daily hours and periods with no days off during peak activity times (must be ableto work Aug. 16 through Sept. 1).
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assist in other areas of the marketing division and complete special projects as needed or
  • assigned by immediate supervisor or the marketing communications manager.
 Qualifications:
  • High school graduate and have or are working toward a bachelor’s degree in public relations,
  • journalism, marketing, business communications or a related area of study.
  • Strong computer skills and social media experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and effectively multi-task.
  • Familiarity with Associated Press Style guidelines.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.

• Assist with scheduling interviews, generating story ideas, conducting research and answering
questions from the media via email, in person or over the phone.
• Monitor broadcast and print media coverage of the State Fair.
• Assist in producing media kit and other miscellaneous publications.
• Manage media credential database program.
• Support vendors, exhibitors and other fair stakeholders with media relations efforts.
• Assist with proofreading and editing written materials.
• Manage the organization, inventory and maintenance of press clippings and database.
• Assist with numerous writing projects such as press releases, website copy or promotional
copy as assigned.
• Work extra daily hours and periods with no days off during peak activity times (must be
available to work Aug. 16 through Sept. 1).

Lola Red - Assistant Publicist



Lola Red PR is seeking a full-time Assistant Publicist with media relations experience to join our energetic and results-driven team starting February 10 or earlier. The Assistant Publicist will be responsible for assisting with media relations on multiple accounts in various media markets. RESPONSIBILITIES
·         Prepare and disseminate information regarding client’s organization through newspapers, magazines, television, radio, and other forms of media that meet both the needs of the client and media
·         Create pitches and assist in securing print, online and broadcast placements for clients
·         Write press releases
·         Ensure features are obtained, press releases are effective, clients are prepped and execution is flawless
·         Execute tactics that contribute to a clear and overall strategy

·         Prepare reporting documents for clients
·         Monitor media for opportunities for additional exposure or possible problems or issues

·         Communicate any and all related initiatives with client on a day-to-day basis -- as directed

REQUIREMENTS
  • 2-3 years of experience in public relations
  • Strong experience pitching to the media and securing media coverage. Experience pitching in various media markets preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, lead projects, and communicate well and often
  • Excellent organizational and creative thinking abilities
  • Knowledge of media issues
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to build relationships with clients
  • Receptive to direction
  • Self-starter, pleasant/helpful/optimistic, minimal supervision required
  • Ability to work on teams
  • Bachelors Degree in Public Relations or Journalism
