Saint Mary's University of Minnesota - Associate Director of Creative Services

The Associate Director of Creative Services serves Saint Mary's University of Minnesota—a university that spans multiple locations, offers numerous programs, and utilizes a variety of delivery modes.

This role is a skilled creative director and graphic designer for the production of print and digital materials university wide. This strategic marketing and communication position is integral in conveying the institution’s brand visually and experientially with various audiences to positively impact the university’s goals, including for enrollment, fundraising, and alumni relations.

Creative Direction
Serves as art director for photography, videography, signage, events, and more for a variety of projects university wide.
Leads future adaptation of graphic identity standards to position the university as innovative in the marketplace.
Leads in the creation of materials that appeal to a variety of people so various audiences recognize and favorably perceive Saint Mary’s University.
Ensures there’s a strong and consistent brand experience through the staging of events and activities throughout locations and online.
Assists in providing leadership for more efficient and effective processes for the department, spread across multiple locations.
Manages vendors and other designers (internal or external).

Design
Designs/creates print and digital materials, and coordinates production of such materials, including advertisements (print and digital), magazines, brochures, invitations, posters, websites and/or application designs, and a variety of promotional materials for external audiences from a variety of internal clients.
Determines, maintains, and communicates production schedules and processes for material development that’s professional, on time, and on budget.
Contributes to a positive and professional work environment.

Essential Skills and Abilities
Must be able to interpret the Saint Mary’s distinctive brand and adhere to and communicate brand standards and identity guidelines to ensure high quality and consistent visuals and messages exist across various mediums.
Must be able to demonstrate creativity and innovative and strategic thinking.
Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Must demonstrate a strong understanding of marketing and branding and the ability to articulate and execute creative that produces return on investment in the areas of lead generation for enrollment and fundraising.
Must be able to work collaboratively with others.


Education and Experience:
The successful candidate must support, respect, and advance the mission of Saint Mary's University as a Lasallian Catholic institution. 

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field; MFA or similar advanced degree preferred.
Must have 7 plus years of experience in graphic design and production of print and digital marketing and other related materials.
Must have a working knowledge of Mac computer hardware and software programs for design, including Creative Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, Font Management Systems, Stuffit, Microsoft Office, iCloud, and Google Drive, Docs, and Gmail.
Must have experience with print management and knowledge of pre-press, press, and mailing processes, as well as demographic, print-on-demand, and digital communication practices and processes.
Must have experience using a project request system to regularly review, accept, and update projects.
