Saint Mary's University of Minnesota - Director of Strategic Marketing

Position Responsibilities
The Director of Strategic Marketing serves Saint Mary's University of Minnesota—a university that spans multiple locations, offers numerous programs, and utilizes a variety of delivery modes. This role is a skilled marketer and strategic communicator who is adept in the arena of lead generation, analytical and creative, a strategist who can plan and effectively implement tactics, readily adaptable, and a champion at meeting deadlines. This position is critical in helping raise the university’s reputation to positively affect recruitment and advance the institution, including the residential, undergraduate College campus in Winona, MN, and the Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs based in Minneapolis with programs also in Winona, Rochester, and other satellite locations. The role will help develop, execute, and monitor advertising, marketing, public relations, and social media campaigns.

Plan, develop, and implement multi-channel advertising campaigns in support of lead generation.
Develop and implement digital and social media plans, strategies, and tactics to reach and engage specific and strategic audiences for the university to achieve goals.
Assist with public relations and media relations universitywide, including content creation and repurposing, as well as monitoring and analysis to increase market awareness, relevance, and choice.
Ensure media buys are well executed with a detailed focus on execution, creative, month-end reconciliation, tracking, and reporting.
Develop master calendar for integrated advertising and content plans.
Coordinate advertising, marketing, analysis, and production with internal staff and vendors.
Complete plans and projects on time, within budget, and meet standards of excellence.
Monitor market and competitor activities, and identify strategies to drive marketing initiatives.
When applicable, supervise vendors and student interns.
Contribute to a positive and professional work environment.

Must be able to see and understand big-picture goals and strategies while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in day-to-day projects.
Must be able to be diplomatic and collaborative in a team environment.
Must demonstrate self motivation andself initiative.
Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be able to travel from Minneapolis-based office to other university locations, including Winona, as needed.

Education and Experience
Must have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing-related area.
Must have 5+ years experience in marketing, advertising, and/or public relations.
Must have solid experience in and understanding of the following: advertising, lead generation, analytics, Internet, social media, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and Google Analytics. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, photography, and videography desired.
Must have demonstrated creativity and proficiency working in marketing with proven successful return-on-investment results.
Must demonstrate experience in gathering information, assimilating ideas, and generating strategic plans and content that produce outcomes.
