The Minneapolis office of Weber Shandwick is looking for a content strategist to work primarily on a major government account. We're seeking a dynamic, experienced content strategist to work within an integrated marketing team and execute best practice programs, leverage the ever-evolving digital and social media landscape and advise on digital initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic counsel to clients, with oversight of a strong digital / content team to support day-to-day social initiatives.
  • Implement a full social content publishing model for clients, including educating (and selling) clients on content creation/syndication, paid amplification and building/overseeing an editorial team that can scale as required.
  • Provide insight on emerging trends and online media developments as they affect public relations and marketing.
  • Develop strategies to harness advocates online, whether those are industry influencers, consumers or other constituencies.
  • Design and implement interactive elements of complex digital/social media engagement campaigns, collaborating with traditional and digital media leadership teams.
  • Create and execute accurate budget estimates for clients for long- and short-term programs.
  • Counsel client on SEO/SEM and social measurement best practices and help implement.
  • Become an expert on our client’s brands and goals, and develop creative solutions that boost the brand’s reputation.
  • Take broad concepts and strategy and translate them into meaningful, actionable operating plans for account teams.
  • Identify ways to measure success against the campaign goals and achievable outcomes; determine methods to collect and present data and analysis to clients as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with dedicated project manager, who will oversee web platform development, and be able to liaise seamlessly between developer and PR account teams from concept to execution.

Qualifications


  • 7-9 years of experience designing content and/or cross-channel digital campaigns at an online publishing company or traditional publisher with an extensive online presence, content marketing at a digital marketing/advertising agency or other relevant experience
  • Have experience managing issues through social/editorial, assisting in preparation of documentation around issues management: driving conversations, impact of issues on communities/communications and providing recommendations; and knows what tools to utilize to get to the result
  • Demonstrate expertise in online publishing and the evolving nature of content marketing; from optimizing a website to organization of content to overseeing an editorial staff; editing copy; training junior team members on content management and content publishing platforms (WordPress, Expression Engine, etc.); leveraging paid, owned and earned channels, as well as media partnerships within the content marketing mix.
  • Show a clear ability to work autonomously, with solid decision-making skills and ability to drive an agenda that merges client priorities with target audience interests and passion points.
  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to successfully present program recommendations and establish relationships with senior clients as a trusted advisor.
  • Superb execution and management abilities, which must include allocating resources effectively, structuring teams and delivering excellent, complex programs in a timely manner (including, but not limited to, mobile marketing and social media campaigns, and web design and development).
  • Is plugged into emerging social media and content strategy trends, can put them into context and educate/sell client on implementation (or not implementing)
  • Works well with media relations and grassroots teams, finding ways to amplify and complement their efforts in meeting client objectives, define relevant metrics that help establish ROI.
