The
Corporate division encompasses the core operational support for all
Land O’Lakes businesses. It includes Corporate Strategy, Corporate
Communications, Land O’Lakes Foundation and Community Relations,
Finance, Law, Member Relations, Facilities, Event Strategy, Security,
Human Resources, Information Technology, Corporate Marketing, Land
O’Lakes International Development and Government Relations.
Position Purpose:
The Communication Specialist will be creating original written and
visual content, and improving the work of others through careful review
and editorial input. This position will create content - primarily
written - for a wide variety of audiences and publishing platforms (web,
intranet, digital signage, email, social, presentations,
proposals/reports, etc.), so must be able to adapt their voice and style
accordingly. They must be first and foremost a storyteller. They must
be a stickler for detail and have a healthy respect for timelines and
process. They need to manage multiple projects simultaneously and
diplomatically address competing timelines and priorities. They should
be curious, interested in learning, and unafraid to voice an opinion.
They need to be able to use data to make informed decisions and to
continually improve the impact of our team's work.
Accountabilities:

Research, conduct interviews and write stories
that support the Communication department's editorial goals of growth,
talent and trust; write to specific audiences/objectives/outcomes, for
publication on a wide variety of platforms (internal, external); secure
appropriate review of all writing before publication (Legal,
subject-matter experts, peer, etc.)

Provide publishing assistance and
troubleshooting (with IT) on owned platforms, including Land O’Lakes
websites, intranet, email and social platforms.

Independently, and in collaboration with
Communications design, enhance storytelling using high-impact visuals
and graphics. Improve presentations and other material (reports,
collateral, proposals, etc.) through smart and innovative design and
layout. Ensure compliance to brand guidelines.

Provide editorial support through the review
of colleagues’ work, improving story impact, ensuring accuracy (facts,
grammar/spelling, AP compliance, etc.).

Analyze and report impact of work, using a
combination of objective and subjective measures. Use learning to
continually improve the impact of personal and team work.
Required Experience & Education:
-
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, PR, Advertising, Marketing or related field.

2+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Experience & Education:
-
Experience as a professional writer
(journalist, public relations, marketing), writing to a variety of
audiences (general public, professional, internal/employee).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to write to a variety of audiences.

Strong project management, and organizational skills.

Able to articulate and be persuasive when
communicating complex issues and formulate creative recommendations to
reach a wide variety of audiences.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects to
successful outcomes in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and highly
collaborative environment.
Preferred Competencies:

Experience with Photoshop, InDesign and/or other design platforms.

Experience publishing content to websites and a variety of social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
Percentage Travel: 5-10%; potential for International travel.
